Toolcrib.com is an Internet shopping portal for tools and hardware, and a community for all those interested in tools and how they are used. Tool Crib.com is owned and operated by the Tool Crib, Inc., which was founded in 1951 in Knoxville, TN and has been serving the industrial metalworking market in the Southeastern United States since that time.
In 1998 we started www.toolcrib.com to serve the existing accounts of the metalworking industry, but soon learned that the internet was better suited to the retail market for tools and hardware and we partnered with Amazon.com to do the order fulfillment for our customers.
Over the last 10 years Toolcrib.com has noticed that Amazon.com is seemingly less and less concerned about good customer service, especially in the Tools and Hardware vertical, and they are seemingly more interested in selling anything and everything they can. With this feeling, Toolcrib.com, the name you have come to trust as the online leader for power tools and hardware, has now made a change. Welcome to the new Toolcrib.com.
Toolcrib.com is dedicated to customer service, and to tools and hardware, so in October of 2010 we joined forces with Acme Tools to manage your entire shopping experience and order fulfillment. What’s in a name? Everything. Acme Tools is the old Tool Crib of the North, the first online seller of tools and hardware.
After the sale of their Internet division to Amazon.com they changed their name to Acme Tools and they were not allowed to use the name “Tool Crib”, plus they were only able to service the markets in their geographic area. For years people have thought that Toolcrib.com was Tool Crib of the North; well today we are affiliated with the original company, Acme Tools, who has always brought you great tools at a great price. We are proud to be able to bring you the same people, the name you know, and even a catalog to shop from. Rest assured you will be buying from the ones who started it all, the original, Tool Crib of the North.
We look forward to serving you, and thank you for taking the time to read a brief history of Toolcrib.com, and we hope you enjoy your visit.
